Fact:: The opinion poll by the weekly India Today in its issue dated 25 November 2002 asked a question to its respondents- “Do you feel secure living in Gujarat today?” in which more than 68 % people including more than 56 % Muslims felt secure. While commenting on the entire poll, India Today reported, “Voters have rallied solidly behind the chief minister’s aggressive posturing. They have endorsed his view of the riots being a reaction to Godhra. They approve his fulmination against outsiders who have vilified the state. And they contemptuously dismiss all suggestions that Gujarat has become a dangerous place to live in.”

The newspaper editors lied along with 24-hour TV news channels like NDTV that the whole of Gujarat was burning. Living outside Gujarat and lying about the state, their lies did not go well with the masses. The media lied to such an unimaginable extent that the media itself by now may have started believing its concocted lies.(An article on some facts about the media can be read here “NDTV is CPM Today“. And another article which is worth reading is “The channels strategy of attacks”. Note that these articles are purely the view of the blogger and not of Gujaratriots.com )

True V I B R A N T GUJARAT:
this is what VIBRANT stands for when we talk about GUJARAT!!
There is a sophistication in the way intolerance has been mainstreamed. One can experience it in the chaotic traffic on the roads. If one is a Muslim, one is denied to right to buy a house or a shop in the up-market areas of Ahmedabad, Surat and other cities. One is forced to live on the periphery of many villages. The Freedom of Religion Law prevents any one from embracing another religion, without permission from the civil authority. Couples in love, are forcibly prevented from marrying if the partner belongs to a different religion or caste. Movies like “Parzania” and “Fanaa” are not allowed to be screened in the State – one, because it exposes the Truth, and the other, because the lead actor asks that the tribals who were dispossessed because of the Narmada Dam, to be justly rehabilitated.
The art of lying seems to have taken a new meaning in Gujarat. This is obvious when even a sheer Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is regarded as “Mission accomplished !”. This bluff was called, when recently, under an RTI query, the Government of Gujarat admitted that just about 25% of the MoUs of the last three years were actually in the pipeline !! The waters of the Narmada Dam is being utilized by the rich and powerful of Ahmedabad. The parched lands of North Gujarat, Saurashtra and Kutch still harbour illusions of the water reaching them !!! State Government advertisements highlight projects and programmes which are in fact undertaken and executed by the Central Government, like the expressway, the airport, the railway system and the 108 ambulance service.
In Gujarat today, anyone standing up for Truth and Justice is at the receiving end. The Government pulls out all stops (to stop School Grants, to impound Passports) to ensure that voices of dissent are silenced. A few months ago, when the Times of India did an expose on the Police Commissioner of Ahmedabad, sedition charges were filed against some of those who ran the newspaper. Honest and objective police officials and bureaucrats are transferred to insignificant postings; Government agencies like the Collectorate, the Police, the Charity Commissioner are used to intimidate and harass individuals and groups that work for the betterment of the poor, the vulnerable and marginalized. Prominent citizens are kept under constant surveillance and many live under the veil of fear.
A sense of arrogance seems to have puffed up the chests of a few who try to control the lives and destinies of others. Such arrogance was very visible in the hey day of Nazism when Hitler brutally trampled on those who were “not like him”. Key people in the State roam about with immunity and impunity and are also elected to positions of power. The underlying message that is conveyed is that “no one can touch them”. One needs to look at the judgments that are given from the Lower Courts and the High Court of Gujarat, in order to experience the subjectivity and partiality that has permeated the system.
Large sections of society in Gujarat are totally neglected. Systematic efforts are made to snatch the forests from the hands of the adivasis. A recent study says that more than thirty-five thousand families will be displaced from the banks of the River Sabarmati because of the Sabarmati River Front Development Project. Development-induced displacement is also the lot of several poor and marginalized farmers and others. Fisher-folk along Gujarat’s vast coastline, continue to be marginalized. Dalits are at the receiving end and many of them continue to live in inhuman conditions. The status of women in Gujarat is way down in comparison to several other States of the country. Children are denied their rights: a large percentage of them constitute the labour force; the textbooks dished out by the Gujarat State Secondary School Board is a clear violation of the rights of children – full of errors, inaccuracies, myths and distortions; only about 59.6% of the rural children of Gujarat can read Std. I text as against the All-India average of 66.6%. The Indian Express of December 21st 2008, has this to say : According to International Food Policy Research Institute’s 2008 Global Hunger Index, Gujarat is ranked 69th alongwith Haiti, the nation infamous for food riots. The State is placed in the ‘alarming’ category.
Gujarat State is truly terror-filled ! For almost seven years now, the principles of democracy have been thrown to the wind. Right-wing Hindu groups can put up bill boards almost anywhere proclaiming a “Hindu Rashtra”. Places of worship have sprung up on public space and they are given full protection by the law and order mechanism. The Constitutional rights and freedoms of an ordinary citizen are not safeguarded. In fact, in several cases, when a victim approaches the system for help, he / she is made the perpetrator of the crime !!! The diversity which has been characteristic of this State, has been totally decimated as communities are forced into ghettoization. There is palpable fear all over.
You are abusing Gujarat- ignoring all of its achievements. If you have a single point agenda of maligning the state- and condemning the rule of Modi- then thats all you will see. Why dont you look at the state’s achievements- or praise EVEN ONE of Modi’s achievements?
And all that you have written about Hindu terrorism in Gujarat- is utter fabrication.
It doesnt need a genuis to know it. If such a situation prevailed-the media would have gone down town and screamed hoarse!
Achievements by having foreign investors and big Industrialists set up factories in your state does not mean the state is prosperous. Gujarat is now a communal hatred petri-dish. Where education levels are decreasing, farmers re suicidal as much as in other states, please do watch rakesh sharma’s latest movie on this, Gujarat is only prosperous in making money, not keeping everyone in state at a dignified level…
Get your facts right- remove biased vision- red glasses- and see the work done by the Gujarat government.
why don’t you actually start reading scholarly journals and reports that are published in the educated media instead of reading Gujarati or local dailies from which ever village of india u belong too…then you will see that What I talk about is facts, please give me your address so I can send u a copy of documentaries made by acclaimed directors…may be that will help you live a decent life is a corrupted nation…
I have no interest in anything except this site- its arguments on the 2002 riots. Unless you actually counter what this site is saying by solid documentation- everything else is rubbish. Your claims that Sangh Parivar unleashed a ‘genocide’ of Muslims etc etc is all laughable- and mere accusations without any documentation.
What I expected was scholarly response. You havent given that.
Doode laughablwe is situation of indians right now, because you guys are getting back what you do to you own citizens…terrorist kill you, and then you can’t attack them but instead you take their frustuation out on innocents within the country, and few months later the terrorist will explode few more bombs right the middle of ur cities and few more of you will die and then you again kill more of youself within, now you tell me what is more laugjhable me sitting here and watching all this chaos on AAJTAK or you ttrying to convince me that sanhg parivar is not criminals?? lol I hope you are still alove by the time next lok sabha elections are finished, we will see then, i really hope you dun die is a pity bomb blast man….lol
INDIA AFTER 60 YEARS OF INDEPENDENCE…
Its not about hindus and muslims or congress or BJP, india is burning is a fury of mistrust, communalism, oppression and corruption…this is what is your future and you guys will never be able to rise above this, yea may be your economy is not $ 1 trillion dollars…but who cares, Korea is ahead of you in that…look at you misery, and if you guys can learn anything from it , change yourselves….
Keep your wishes with you. And think with open mind- Or you and your entire- PSEUDO-SECULARIST BRIGADE will suffer ANOTHER SHOCK -like you suffered in the December 2002 Gujarat elections- when BJP won 50 % votes and 127 out of 182 seats!
LIFE IN A FAKE DEMOCRACY:
BJP demolished 300 temples in Gujarat says congress candidate
New Delhi: Congress party is all set to expose BJP’s Hindutva at its hinterland. The party has decided to highlight the issue of demolition of over 290 temples in Gujarat, particularly in Gandhinagar. Modi government had demolished over 290 big and small temples in the name of development causing much resentment in the local people. BJP’s prime ministerial candidate L K Advani is seeking re-election from Gandhinagar.
Local citizens had expected that Advani would prevent Modi from ‘irreligious’ demolition but the local MP never showed his displeasure against Modi’s ‘bulldozers. Till now, Advani has not uttered a word of sympathy nor has promised to rebuild the demolished temples.
Talking to TwoCircles.net on phone the congress candidate from Gandhinagar Suresh Kumar Patel said: “This is very emotional issue for us. These people have demolished 300 temples and now they are talking of construction of temple in Ayodhya”. He said that people of Gujarat are very angry over the anti religious activity of Gujarat government. “Even Advani did not speak a word when temples were razed” he said adding the leader of opposition rarely visit the constituency.
Claiming that this time Advani would face defeat by Congress, he said he was a local and now the local people would no more tolerate the double standards of BJP. Patel is currently an MLA from Kalol near Gandhinagar.
Here too a senior leader of the party told this correspondent that the congress would also raise the issue at national level to expose BJP
Modi, considered the poster boy of Hindutva, had launched a demolition drive against illegal structures including temples in November last. Big protest were taken out against Modi over the issue
A “Mandir Bachao Sangharsh Samiti” was also formed but Modi bulldozer stopped only after demolition worked was completed. Sunil Oza, a former legislator of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) who later formed Maha Gujarat Janata Party (MJP), said at that time that: “Modi is a true successor of Mahmud Gazni, Babar and Aurangzeb.”
Agar koi temple or Masjid VIKAS ke against ajaye to ye mera kahana hain ki us temple or masjid ko demolished karni chahiye.CM.Narendra Modi ne jis temples ko destroyed kiya wo sab ki sab unauthorised thi.aur ye sab Gujrat high court ki order ki wajah thi.Hindutva is not against progress. But if some people from minority trying to make HINDUSTAN and (off cource) hindu unstable.
Fantastic blog:D I am going to need some time to ponder your story!
Super-Duper site! I am loving it!! Will arrive back again once more – taking you feeds also, Thanks.
Hello. Terrific occupation. I did not anticipate this on a Wednesday. This is a wonderful story. Thanks!
Media men who consider the oppressive and mischievously irresponsible Congress Party as their holy Ummah(Akkadian-Amorite “Mother-Unit” of fanatical tribes) launched a venomous tirade against Narendra Modi’s government which only obeyed court orders in demolishing those temples erected on unauthorised land. The mischievous Congressmen who called Narendra Modi, a slave of the masses, bad names like “Aurangzeb and Mohammed Ghori”. These oppressors would have only felt delighted if the those preaching venomous sermons in Hindu temples (occupied by them) would have been allowed unfettered to continue brainwashing innocent Hindus into docile, emasculate servility to the Nehru Khaandaan dynasty and its Italian Roman Catholic overlords from allegedly fascist Mussolinist family background. In any case, the studied silence of the stalwarts of Gujarat high court in not taking the Congressite propagandists to task for contempt of court ( for blaming Modi for the demolition ) in lambasting Modi for obeying court orders and falsely portraying him as enemy of Hindus, is sending unmistakable signals to the wise masses that judges had a vested interest in passing the demolition orders which were perhaps issued in the first place in typically cunning fashion only to bring down the Modi government. But the masses are not so stupid as opponents think, and now once again they DEMAND IN UNISON that justice long overdue be done and the Congressite candidates and media trouble-shooters be charged with CONTEMPT now !
